The word “Holocaust”
serves as an international code for the most monstrous
event in the history of mankind. Today, only few of the
survivors are still alive and they are naturally
diminishing in number. The tendency of history to fade
out due to biology stands in direct relationship to the
diminishing life expectancy of the last witnesses to the
Holocaust… And the feeling of helplessness involved in
this awareness is probably the reason why we
occasionally start a fight against time… Transferring
the trauma onto canvas means having the courage to
painfully return to the depth of hell, for the sake of
keeping the collective memory alive. This is also an
assurance that the emotions felt within one’s heart
would always be remembered beyond the historical facts…
